Shahjahanabad, Dar-ul-Khilafat Mint, Silver, Nazarana Rupee, in the name of Muhammad Akbar II, AH 1224/3, chhatra as mint mark on obv (KM# 779.1). One test mark on obv, Very Fine+, Extremely Rare. Although Muhammad Akbar II was enthroned at Delhi, actual control of the Empire was vested with the East India Company. Till 1818, coins from the Shahjahanabad Mint were issued by the EIC to pay pension to the Emperor but later these Nazarana Rupees were struck annually, in a small quantity, on the anniversary of the king’s accession. These are truly Nazarana coins.
