Provenance: The collection of Claude (d.2010) and Francoise Bourelier, sold at Salle Drouot, Paris, 8th July 2015.
The Bourelier collection included fifty Indian miniatures which the couple had acquired in the 1970s in the sale of the renowned library of Sir Thomas Phillips (1792-1872), one of the greatest book collectors of the nineteenth century who had amassed 40,000 books and 60,000 manuscripts.
