Shah Jahan, Silver, ¼ Rupee Nisar, 2.63 g, Dar-ul-Khilafat Akbarrabad Mint, AH 1047. Rim damaged at 6 o’clock, defaced at one side, Fine, Rare.The Nisar/Largesse Coin, literally scattering coins, were lightweight silver and gold coins minted especially as largesse money to be scattered amongst the crowd during festival processions and other state occasions. The coins were struck to 1/32 Rupee, 1/16 rupee, 1/8 rupee, ¼ Rupee and ½ Rupee weights. The ¼ Rupee weight is encountered more frequently while specimens struck in the other weights remain quite rare.
